Northern California Climbs Bicycle Tour
8 days of challenging cycling in the Northern California Wine Country and Coastal Mountains
If you like your cycling routes short and your terrain flat, this is NOT the tour for you. But if you like to seek out challenging biking terrain and prefer the long way over the shortcut, our Northern California Challenge might be just what you’re looking for. The daily distances are longer, and the "hills" are quite a bit higher than our typical tour. But there’s a payoff for the tour finisher — membership in an elite club of riders who have conquered the most remote and challenging routes in Northern California.
Northern California Splendor
Ridgetop rides, steep climbs, technical descents, spectacular views in remote locations. These are the features of our Northern California Challenge. We've stitched together only the most awe-inspiring cycling roads in Marin, Sonoma, and Mendocino Counties to produce a challenging bicycle adventure like no other.
Starting and finishing just north of the Golden Gate in Marin County, this grand tour takes in the rolling meadows of Marin County, the ancient redwood-shaded roads of the Russian River, the inviting wine country of Sonoma County, the undiscovered Anderson Valley, the spectacular Pacific Coast, and the rugged mountains of the Coastal Range.
But what sets this tour apart from all others is the sheer quantity of remote and challenging routes with names like The Geysers, Orr Springs, Sweetwater Springs, Skaggs Springs, King Ridge Road — legendary rides on the "to do" list of countless avid cyclists. For the first time, these amazing routes have been linked up into a single eight-day "wow" experience.
