What is the weather going to be like?
Weather in Sonoma County is ideal for growing wine grapes: warm during the day and cool at night. Mornings tend to be cool and foggy, but the coastal fog usually lifts by midday. Fog can linger at the coast all day. High temperatures during Summer months average in the low 80s. Winter brings temperatures in the low 60s. The rainy season is from mid-November to mid-March.
What type of dining will we be doing?
When researching a trip, we seek out restaurants that serve healthy, fresh choices typical of the California cuisine style of cooking. The Village Inn, our lodging for the weekend, has a very good restaurant with menu choices typical of California Cuisine. We will be having Saturday dinner there.
Nobody goes hungry on an Undiscovered Country trip! One of the joys of riding several hours per day is getting to enjoy the dinner afterwards. We give you the choice of ordering anything on a restaurant's menu — there are no limited selection menus on an Undiscovered Country trip. Order appetizers, soup, salad, entree, dessert, and beverages. The only thing that isn't included is alcohol.
Continental breakfast is served at The Village Inn in the mornings. We supplement the continental breakfast with our own cyclist’s oatmeal—a hearty mix of organic ingredients to help fuel for the upcoming ride.
Where do we meet at the start of the trip?
We gather on Saturday morning in Monte Rio, at the The Village Inn. We will spend Saturday and Sunday nights there.
Where does the trip end?
The trip officially ends in the mid-afternoon on Monday, at the Village Inn in Monte Rio.
At what time does the trip end?
It depends on how quickly everyone rides, but usually the last rider arrives at the finish between 2:30 and 3:00 PM.
Can I arrive before the trip on Friday in Monte Rio?
Yes. If you would like to reserve a room at the Village Inn in Monte Rio, we will do that for you and add the cost of the room to your bill. If you’re reserving with us online, just check the option for a Friday night stay.
