Colorado Custom TourDaily Itinerary
Day 1, Sunday: Arrive in AspenWe meet in the afternoon in Aspen, at the Mountain Chalet. There shoudl be enough time to take a fairly easy ride to get used to the altitude. We check into our rooms and spend the night at the Mountain Chalet. If you are driving to the start: There is parking available at the Mountain Chalet during our stay in Aspen. After we check out, you can leave your car at the nearby Aspen Airport. The nightly parking fee is $5. Day 2, Monday: AspenBreakfast is served at the Mountain Chalet, where we can decide what rides people want to do this day. There are several choices of routes that start and end in Aspen:
Day 3, Tuesday: Aspen to FriscoAfter breakfast, we check out of the Mountain Chalet early and start our ride to Frisco (those with cars can leave them at the Aspen Airport). Today is a long ride of 81 miles, with two major passes (Independence and Fremont). We pass through the towns of Twin Lakes and Leadville along the way. When we arrive in Frisco, we check into the Hotel Frisco, which will be our base of activity for the next two days. Day 4 Wednesday: FriscoAfter breakfast at a nearby restaurant, we head out on an out-and-back trip from Frisco. Some possible routes:
Day 5 Thursday: FriscoAnother day in Frisco, so choose a different route today. Day 6 Friday: Mt. EvansAfter breakfast in Frisco, we check out of our hotel and shuttle to Idaho Springs. From here, we begin our ascent of the massive Mt. Evans. After completing the climb, we return to Idaho Springs and check into the Columbine Inn. For dinner, we drive to the nearby town of Empire to enjoy a final celebration dinner at the Peck House. Day 7 Saturday: Final DayAfter breakfast at a nearby restaurant, we check out of our rooms at the Columbine Inn and begin a ride to Winter Park and back. For those who don’t want that long of a ride, they can turn around at Berthoud Pass. After returning to Idaho Springs, we say our good byes and head home. The van will return guests to Aspen, so those who left cars at the Aspen Airport can retrieve them.
