The rest of the days can be as short or as long as you wish. We will have several different route sheets to choose from each day. What is included in the price of the trip?

What is the weather going to be like?August weather in the mountains of Colorado is generally warm and sunny. But there is always a chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the mountains, and even snow at the highest elevations. Our best advice is to be prepared for changing weather conditions. Here are some weather statistics for August:
Where do we meet at the start of the trip?We meet in downtown Aspen, at the Mountain Chalet. This is also where we stay for the first two nights of the tour. How do I get to the start?1. You can fly directly into Aspen Airport. Round trip airfare is about $200 as of January, 2007. We will drive your bike and gear round trip from Palo Alto, so you won't have to fly with your bike. 2. You can drive to Aspen, which takes two long days. The halfway point is Ely, Nevada. if you do drive, you can leave your car at the Aspen Airport during the tour, and we will return you to your car after the finish. 3. You can take Amtrak from Emeryville to Glenwood Springs, which takes two days. Where does the trip end?The tour officially ends in Idaho Springs. If you need a ride back to Aspen, you can catch a ride in the van. If you need help getting somewhere else, let us know. What should I bring?BicycleDon't forget to bring your bicycle. Cycling ClothingCycling shorts, cycling jerseys, cycling socks, cycling shoes, gloves, helmet, wind jacket or vest, rain gear (jacket, pants, helmet cover, shoe covers), sunglasses. For colder weather: arm warmers, knee/leg warmers or tights, full fingered gloves, shoe covers, beanie. Other ClothesHat, bathing suit, sweater or jacket, comfortable shoes, casual evening wear. Other ItemsSunscreen, lip balm, prescription medicines, chamois cream, toiletries, identification, medical insurance card.
