We'll be spending our first night overlooking scenic Lake Natoma on the American River, at the Lake Natoma Inn and Conference Center. This is a full service hotel with swimming pool, hot tub, restaurant, fitness center, and sauna. It is walking distance from the historic Sutter Street and its fine restaurants.
Saturday Night: Volcano
In Volcano—called the most picturesque town in the Mother Lode—we treat ourselves to a stay at the inviting St. George Hotel. It’s a three-story Gold Rush era hotel, lovingly restored to its original 1862 elegance in a garden setting. The rooms in the original structure are spacious and filled with period antiques. One of the rooms is reserved for massage—an optional service that we’re happy to book for you in advance. Since this is a historic inn, most rooms have shared baths. But since we stay here in the quiet season, there usually are few other guests to share the baths with.
With the popularity of this Gold Country trip, it's best to book a space early. We only visit this unique region three times a year and limit the number of guests to 12, so don't delay. Reserve your space now!
